Abstract:
One of the basic rights of convicted persons during the serving of a prison sentence is the right to work. A convict can been gaged only if he agrees. In other words, the prisoner is not obliged to work. Every prisoner who is engaged in employment has certain rights related to his / her work, such as the right to a financial compensation, daily, weekly and annual leave. The object of the author’s attention, as well as the title of the article, is the international and domesti carrangement of the working engagement of prisoners who serve the prison sentence in criminal institutions. The work is divided into three systematized units. The first part of the paper points to international documents containing clauses on the work of convicts. The second part of the paper is devoted to domestic regulations related to the subject matter, in particular the Law on the Execution of Criminal Sanctions. Finally, part of the work is dedicated to the working engagement of the prisoners in some penal institutions.
