Summary:
The paper presents data from memoirs about the creation of Serbian codes, mainly from 1865. The memories of contemporaries about the process of creation of each of the codifications are presented in two separate chapters – records of the creation and codes from the field of private law. public law. Within those two units, notes on the origin of codification from the relevant legal fields are presented. The authors examined the credibility of the memoir records and used them as a starting point for further research on some little-known details from the history of the adoption of Serbian codes. The results of that research are the deepening of already existing knowledge about codification efforts, but also some completely new discoveries.
