Summary:
Starting from the problems of modern cities, the author emphasized that one of the ways to solve the resistance of crime to conventional prevention measures is the use of smart cities. After defining smart cities in terms of concepts, the author devoted special attention to the analysis of one of their functions – crime prevention. Therefore, in the next part of the paper, he presented how far individual local communities have come in implementing smart cities with the aim of combating the commission of criminal offenses. The last part of the paper is dedicated to considering how far cities in the Republic of Serbia have come in implementing the smart city concept.
