Abstract:
Program protection of witnesses is one of the new forms of protection, which consists in providing protection to witnesses outside criminal proceedings, before, in progress, but also after legally terminated procedure. This protection has a police character, it includes physical and technical protection of persons and property, concealment, or change of their identity and transfer, or the relocation of witness and persons close to him. The objective of the witness protection program is to achieve the general purpose of witness protection, which is, on the one hand, the protection of witnesses and persons close to him, and, on the other hand, protection of the interests of the criminal proceedings. Bosnia and Herzegovina introduced the program protection of witnesses in 2014. Despite numerous problems, it can be said that this form of protection is effective and has significantly improved the status of witnesses in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
